Why Choose Postpartum

Doula and Newborn Care?

  • “The support I needed when I felt most vulnerable.”

In the early days postpartum, many new parents describe feelings of overwhelm or isolation. A postpartum doula provides not just practical assistance but emotional support to help you find confidence in this transformative time. With our support, you won’t feel alone in this transition!

  • "Someone to guide you so you can focus on bonding."

With a doula by your side, you can rest, recover, and fully bond with your baby, knowing that an experienced specialist is there to help with newborn care, breastfeeding guidance, and family support.

  • Maybe you don't have family close by or you prefer to invite a professional into your vulnerable space rather than your family.

  • maybe you could use the support during the transition of welcoming your baby into your family because you have other kids and other responsibilities.

Having a professional allows you to be more present with your baby and your body as you heal, bond with your baby, and learn your baby’s cues.

  • Our newborn care specialists are here to help with feeding, sleep guidance, swaddling, and all those small details that make a big difference, helping you understand your baby’s cues and needs.

  • From preparing nourishing meals to supporting breastfeeding, postpartum doulas help prioritize your healing and wellness. This vital support aids physical recovery, helping you regain strength, restore energy, and adjust smoothly to life with your newborn.

  • “There is no substitute for a caring hand when sleep-deprived and learning to care for a newborn.” Our doulas offer the guidance, encouragement, and hands-on support that families often crave but find hard to access. What is bellybinding?

Belly binding is an ancient tradition in many cultures. It includes using knots around the abdomen for warmth and healing.

Belly binding can be a soothing and supportive addition to postpartum care, offering both physical benefits and a nurturing self-care ritual.

    • Provides Core Support: Helps stabilize the abdomen and lower back as your body recovers from pregnancy and birth.

    • Encourages Uterine Involution: Gently supports the uterus as it returns to its pre-pregnancy size and position.

    • Improves Posture: Promotes proper alignment, reducing strain on the back and shoulders, especially during breastfeeding or babywearing.

    • Reduces Swelling: May help minimize water retention and bloating in the postpartum period.

    • Supports Emotional Well-Being: Can provide a sense of grounding, comfort, and emotional stability during a time of significant physical and emotional change.

    • Boosts Confidence: Helps some mothers feel more "put together" as they adjust to their postpartum body.

    • Holistic Healing Tradition: Draws from centuries of cultural practices for postpartum recovery and nurturing.

    • Promotes Pelvic Floor Healing: Offers gentle compression, which can aid pelvic floor recovery by reducing pressure on the area.

Have questions? Let’s chat.

  • Our rates range from $45 an hour to $75 an hour. The rates depend on where you live, if you’re wanting daytime or nighttime support, and the type of care/services you’re interested in.

  • Ideally, the sooner the better. Our doulas are great at what they do so they come in high demand and can book up pretty fast. As soon as you have an idea that you might want a postpartum doula or newborn care specialist, it’s worth scheduling a consultation to get your questions answered and see if hiring someone from our team is a good fit for you, your family, and your expectations. Some women hire a postpartum doula while they’re pregnant to have things set up and ready to go for when baby arrives and some don’t hire a postpartum doula until they realize they really need it, which can sometimes be in the postpartum period.

  • Each doula on the team has her own unique things that she brings to her own practice. We have a few postpartum doulas and some offer daytime and/or nighttime support, belly binding, craniosacral therapy for baby, breastfeeding/pumping/bottle feeding support, tidying up and nursery organization, washing bottles/pump parts, maximizing baby and parent’s sleep, creating a routine for the whole family to thrive, help with sibling adjustment, preparing nourishing snacks/meals, education and baby basics or troubleshooting, and so much more! When consulting with the postpartum doula you’re matched with, it’s important to ask this question and voice what you’re looking for.

  • Yes, absolutely! Our doulas are trained to help with breastfeeding. You can expect them to help with positioning and latching as well as creating a healthy breastfeeding routine from day one.

frequently asked questions

  • Overnight support typically includes tasks such as tidying up, washing bottles/pump parts, folding baby laundry, feeding support, care for postpartum mama, full care of baby while parents catch up on much needed sleep, sleep routine support, etc.

  • We support each family's decision on how to safely sleep, whether that be co-sleeping, rooming in, or sleeping separately. Our doulas support parents by teaching them safe co-sleeping techniques, feeding throughout the night, healthy sleep habits, setting sleep cues and the environment, as well as goal setting for daytime and nighttime sleep routines.

  • How you feed your baby is completely your choice and every family is different. Our team teaches and guides parents on how to use a paced bottle feeding approach, a healthy bottle feeding/pumping routine if desired, as well as how to appropriately help baby release gas through burping tips and tricks!
